MTV OMA : What it takes to lead a Tokio Hotel Fan Army.

As you can see from the massive influx of votes in the Fan Army FTW category, the award meted out to these top music lovers is one of the most popular in the O Music Awards roster. That’s why we’re aiming to chat with the top dogs in each of these armies — folks that simultaneously amaze and terrify us with their ardent dedication.

Last O Music Awards, the Tokio Hotel Aliens soundly beat their competitors, scoring the coveted titled of Fan Army FTW. This time around, they’re back and they’re fighting hard for their beloved German pop band. We chatted with one of their top generals, 30-year-old Jacqueline from the Dominican Republic, about what it takes to head up a winning Fan Army.

When did you become a fan? Why?
I became a Tokio Hotel Fan in 2008 after discovering them on YouTube. I love learning languages so I was looking for some German language music on YouTube and found their music video ’1000 Meere’ and their performance of that song at 2008 NRJ Music Awards in France. Next day, I started listening to all their music, watching episodes of Tokio Hotel TV, their music videos, live performances, interviews, etc. I fell in love with their German music, personalities and of course Bill Kaulitz; he’s unique, I’m fascinated with him.

When did you decide to join and lead a fan army?
In 2008, there were several important Tokio Hotel votings (MTV VMA, MTV Latin America Awards, MTV EMA) and I was voting a lot for them. I really wanted them to win those awards so I wanted to support them more by also helping to spread the word of those votings. That’s when I started joining different Tokio Hotel forums around the world (USA, Germany, Italy, France, etc), mainly because I wanted to help in all the votings and constantly remind the fans to vote. Then, in 2009 I created the Twitter account (@BillKaulitzFans) because Twitter is the most effective way to make your voice heard and very useful and powerful tool to help spread the word (votings, news and all types of updates), it makes it quicker and easier, it’s currently the best tool for that.

What is the general uniform of your fan army? Any clothes you all wear? Concert Ts, etc?
There’s no uniform. Some fans wear sometimes Tokio Hotel T-shirts that can be bought at the Tokio Hotel Official Store.

How many hours a week do you listen to the music?
It depends, but these days probably two hours a week. But, of course, that will change when the new Tokio Hotel album is released. :)

Any hard and fast rules for members of your fan army?
There are no hard and fast rules.

How closely do you know the other members? Are you all friends?
The Tokio Hotel fandom is like a big family.

How did you manage to win Fan Army FTW last time around? Any strategies?
Practice makes perfect. Tokio Hotel Fans are veterans at voting. :)

This year, you guys started voting rather rapidly. How did you arrange that?
We didn’t start voting before you announced the site, but we did start voting immediately after we saw the @MTVOMA tweet about the nominations. The link to the voting page was in that post. :)

What’s your plan this time around?

Bill & Tom making a reality TV show?

"My father is an assistant producer at HBO and he looks at and analyzes charts for the popularity of past TV series and sort of like compares them with a test group who watch pilots of new tv series. He basically sees what works which demographic and what will be most successful. Anyway~!! /boring
so this is the news: he knows I am a TH fan so yesterday he mentioned to me that he saw something I might be interested in... on the list of shows that will be aired in Spring 2012 there was a show called "Kaulitz Brothers: Radio Hysteria" or something like that, I can't quite remember, but it was optioned for HBO internationally and it's under the category reality tv!! I have no idea what it could be, buy ummm, who cares right? kind of amazing, I'll post more if I can find out more!!"

Now it’s finally clear: Bill Kaulitz (22) is a man! The androgynous vocalist of Tokio Hotel, who is listed every year since 2007 in the FHM-list of 100 most unattractive woman (!), has really a beard. The former teenie-superstar has more hair in the face, but less on the head. New Bill wears a quiff type of tower. Besides he wears over-sized sunglasses, artfully faded jeans and in the gloved hands there is a leather bag.

Meanwhile Bill and his twin brother Tom live in Los Angeles. In America they can avoid from the teenie-skirl, the hype around their individuals are limited.

Although: When Bill Kaulitz would walk in this outfit through the streets in Germany, nobody would identify him. But the “Magdeburger” would cause a sensation no doubt.

His looks are so different, so diversified is the carrer of the teenie-idol meanwhile. A little bit music, which the longer, the less successful it is, some acting or fashion. Bill Kaulitz was already set by the fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld (ageless, picture) for a «Vogue»-photo shoot into scene. And from King Karl he seems like to copy quite a lot.

Correct. And with the blond hair, Bill’s putting the styling crown on his head. For years, the 22 year old has known how to polarize with his diverse looks. The most important thing is that he himself likes it.

Bill: I know that with certain things that I wear, most people are going to think it’s complete crap and are going to freak out about it. But that’s one of the reasons why I do it.

At the moment, we can compare him to the Jedward twins or Ross Anthony. But Bill Kaulitz stays Bill Kaulitz. The fans still have to wait for new Tokio Hotel material, but Bill definitely achieved one thing with the new look: He’s the talk of the moment and is increasingly becoming a male version of Lady Gaga.

Their Brand New Album Will Be Out in Spring 2012!!!!

It’s been a while since we’ve seen our favorite German Rockers, Tom and Bill Kaulitz, Georg Listing and Gustav Schäfer and I know we’re all on the edge waiting to hear their new material but looks like it’s all heading our way very soon according to Tokio Hotel's official US website!

The boys haven’t really been performing much lately but that’s because they moved to Los Angeles and are spending night and day in the studio to work on their new album which is to release in Spring 2012!

Tokio Hotel are a groundbreaking and unique band and always deliver, that’s what’s got fans across the globe going crazy over them.

Their first album as Tokio Hotel, Schrei, sold more than half a million copies worldwide, their second German album Zimmer 483 and their first English album Scream which have combined album sales of over one million copies worldwide. There’s no doubt this album will follow their successful trend.

Enjoying a delicious dinner out, brothers Bill and Tom Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel were spotted out at Hollywood hotspot Katsuya last night (September 12).

The uber-popular vocalist and his guitarist sibling took to the Japanese eatery in their usual rock star garb, with Bill sporting a leather jacket and acid washed jeans while Tom opted for a black sweater, pants and sneakers.

In a recent Facebook post, the Kaulitz brothers teased fans about an all-new way to get in touch with them in the near future, writing, "Get the Twin Experience! We have a little surprise for you guys! If you’d like to stay in contact with Bill and myself a new opportunity will open up for YOU pretty soon."

They duo continued, "In only a few weeks we’ll launch our very own App so stay tuned and watch out for more info to come!! Great features are waiting for you and you can expect to get the real Bill & Tom experience."

Bill and Tom Kaulitz of Tokio hotel leaving Katsuya Hollywood. For a couple people that you never see out, it was so nice to see these guys out. A friend said last night, their record label must have been telling them "hey were not paying you to stay at home" so they must have told them to go somewhere public. There couldnt have been a more public place than this. They came out at about 11:30pm. Made a bee line directly for the car to get by the paparazzi that were there. Tom came out first and got in the car, then Bill came out. The only one I talked to was Bill. I love his new blonde hair! They were in a rush so I couldnt get pictures with them, I just got pictures of them, but these were pictures a friend took that were more focused so Im just putting these up.
